    Customer

    Vale of Glamorgan Council

    Location

    Barry, south Wales

    Value

    £5.2m in two phases

The first phase of the waste transfer station project comprised the installation of site drainage over an area of 1.42 hectares. This was then capped with a reinforced concrete slab enabling access to the site for a variety of vehicles.

We then progressed the design and construction of two storage buildings, site offices and welfare facilities, completing the whole with lighting, weighbridge and vehicle wash facilities.

Following the successful delivery of the phase one, we negotiated follow on works with the Vale of Glamorgan Council, which comprised:

    • Secondary storage unit (850m2) including floor slab
    • Small store (80m2)
    • Welfare facility (14 bay modular set up)
    • Vehicle wash area
    • All associated M&E works
    • Vehicle charging point
    • External concrete area (2,000m2)

    our sectors

Malcolm & I would like to thank yourself and Guy for working with us and our design team in delivering a superb finished product for FloPlast that we are very proud of and which has been much admired by our customers on site visits.  So far so good, we are finding our operational feet on the site and it all appears to be working well.

    - Bryan Lynch, Floplast

The team at Knights Brown has done a fantastic job in creating the largest JLR Aftersales Centre in the UK, working alongside GEMCO Sales & Service who fitted out the facility to the highest standard. With 29 service bays in total, Dorset is now future-proofed for servicing the JLR product.

    - Mark Whittam, Group Operations Director (Marketing), Westover Group

Knights Brown was a great client to deal with. We felt from the very outset that they worked with us rather than for us, demonstrating real collaboration in order to minimise disruption to the port. The works were also delivered through a very challenging time, with the latter stages coinciding with the COVID-19 pandemic. Their approach to this was thoroughly professional, with health and safety the primary consideration. Working practices were strictly amended and monitored, with the project completed to the satisfaction of all involved.
