Knights Brown’s works comprised the installation of a 60,000 litre fuel tank onto a piled slab, the provision of two new Davit cranes on piled bases through the existing concrete jetty, revetment repairs under the quayside, access routes to the quayside area and associated drainage.

We also installed a services corridor to allow access for an O&M facility for the off-shore maintenance boats working on the wind farm off the Sussex coast.

The Davit crane bases were installed on four 500mm diameter steel tubular piles, 40m deep into the chalk foundation on the river bed. The bases were constructed around these independent of the quayside to ensure the loading from the cranes was not imparted into the quayside structure.

Careful planning and communication with the offshore construction team, the quayside operations team and Newhaven Port Authority ensured that all our works were sequenced to avoid any impact on access to the pontoon and servicing of the offshore boats.

our sectors

Site staff were pleased to have had Knights Brown on the team, they were proactive from day one to the end towards potential issues and responsive to a changing site environment for works.

- David Sheldon, Cummins

Overall a successful project with good management of the work. Site team asked questions rather than made assumptions which was good. Good communication. Would (and have) recommended Knights Brown for other projects.
