    Knights Brown was appointed by Maidstone Borough Council to refurbish the very tired-looking and unwelcoming bus station.

    It has undergone a thorough modernisation and been opened up by removing glass block walls and installing new public wayfinding signage, street furniture, benches and service information boards. All of these features contribute to keeping the public safe in Maidstone.

    The new facilities also improve the vitality and viability of Maidstone, the County Town of Kent, and provide a modern and well cared for place with excellent public transport connections.

    The walls have been decorated with colourful scenes of Maidstone and a mural depicting some of town’s history has been added by 40 young spray-painters under the direction of artist Graham Upton at the King Street entrance.
