A five Senvion MM92 turbine civils balance of plant project comprising:

    • Large 33kV substation with 6ft deep cable basement
    • 4km of access track
    • Crane pads
    • Cable trench
    • Site entrance widening works
    • Large cut and fill required for earthworks
    • New bottomless arch culvert for access track to cross stream.

SUMMARY OF WORKS AND SERVICES UNDERTAKEN

Our works included an upfront coordination phase assisting our customer with the discharge of planning conditions, both pre and post commencement.

The works comprised the design and construction of all site infrastructure for the delivery, installation and commissioning of five MM92 wind turbines.

The scheme involved the widening of site entrance off the A920, upgrading 2km of access track including a bottomless arch culvert, approval by SEPA, and a further 2km of access track construction on site for the five turbines.

We undertook extensive site drainage works and completed the cable trenching for all five turbines from the point of connection to the new substation.

Knights Brown was responsible for the design and construction of the 33kV substation, which was fulfilled to SPEN design constraints. In addition to these works we also constructed a 6ft deep cable trench basement under the switchgear to allow easy access for service and maintenance.

Extensive earthworks were required to form the specified design gradients for the turbine delivery.  Reinstatement was completed carefully with regard to natural flora and fauna and to allow the area to regenerate, sympathetically blending with the environment.

The contract was completed safely, on time and to budget.

    our sectors

Sites are always very well presented. First impressions count and if a site looks well organised and clean when you arrive then generally this is applied throughout the management of the projects. Indeed, all five projects I am Cummins PM for, have been managed to a high standard and equally the safety records and standards are very good.

Site staff were pleased to have had Knights Brown on the team, they were proactive from day one to the end towards potential issues and responsive to a changing site environment for works.
