    General Operative / Groundworker

    We wish to recruit a general operative/groundworker to join our framework team working with the Port of Dover.

    The role’s main duties and qualification requirements are as follows.

    Site preparation, which may include:

    • Concreting the proposed site
    • Laying kerbs and flagstones
    • Redirecting waterways by flow or pumping
    • Creating roads or pathways
    • Day to day housekeeping of the site

    You will hold a valid CSCS or CPCS skills card and be trained to this standard.

    You will be carrying out all aspects of site preparation work in all but extreme weather conditions for which you will be provided with appropriate PPE. The environment can be dusty, damp, wet or cold depending on the project and the time of the year.

    The ability to operate plant machinery will be an advantage but is not essential.

    Basic numeracy is necessary for dealing with construction tasks and the nature of the role.

    You will be confident and decisive in your own work.

    This is a physically demanding role requiring a high level of physical fitness for the safe functioning of the site.

    Health, Safety and Environment

    • Ensure adherence to legal requirements and company procedures at all times.
    • Proactively seek to improve safety standards and promote a positive safety culture.
    • Seek to minimise waste and energy consumption.
    • Be alert to present dangers on the site and advise team workers of impending risks.

    People

    You will be an integral member of the site team, assisting and supporting others in fulfilling their roles.

    There will be the potential to progress into a supervisory role.

    This is a full time position working Monday to Friday, 45 hours a week.
