    Assistant Quantity Surveyor

    An opportunity for an assistant quantity surveyor has arisen within our South East Division. This role will be based at our Rochester office and on sites around the south east and will report to the senior quantity surveyor.

    The purpose of this role is to provide an effective quantity surveying service maximizing profitability by effective valuation, cash collection, procurement and management of subcontract suppliers.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Reviewing, fully understanding and applying the measurement, valuation and payment procedures set out in the contract.
    • Preparing interim and final accounts with necessary substantiation and submit in a timely manner, fully considering additional work items.
    • Recognising variations and potential claims, keeping appropriate records and ensuring that the requisite “notices” are produced in accordance with the conditions of the contract.
    • Developing, preparing and issuing competent subcontract enquiries that will form the basis of commercially strong subcontract agreements.
    • Ensuring subcontract orders are competent in accordance with company standards and are prepared and issued in a timely manner.
    • Working closely with the site team identifying early any non-recoverable costs and reporting immediately to reduce the impact on project profitability.
    • Measuring material usage, reconciling and reporting any excessive wastage.
    • Measuring and valuing subcontract packages in accordance with the conditions of the subcontract order.

    The successful candidate will ideally have some experience in quantity surveying and hold a QS/Construction related degree. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical and communication skills and strong commercial acumen.
