Knights Brown is working with Burns & McDonnell on a project in Suffolk for National Grid where we are undertaking the civil engineering and building works for a 400Kv Gas Insulated Substation (GIS).

The project involves the construction and fit out of a portal frame building to house the HV switchgear with an annex attached to contain ancillary equipment.

A quantity of structures will support the external equipment, some of which will connect the substation to an overhead power line.

We will also construct 2km of roads to connect the two substation compounds and provide access from a nearby road.

The project has been let by National Grid under their RIIO2 Electricity Construction Framework.

Malcolm & I would like to thank yourself and Guy for working with us and our design team in delivering a superb finished product for FloPlast that we are very proud of and which has been much admired by our customers on site visits.  So far so good, we are finding our operational feet on the site and it all appears to be working well.

    - Bryan Lynch, Floplast

Overall a successful project with good management of the work. Site team asked questions rather than made assumptions which was good. Good communication. Would (and have) recommended Knights Brown for other projects.
