Project SLAM (Single Living Accommodation Modernisation) was a long-running contract to provide thousands of MOD bedrooms for single personnel. It was completed after 12 years, in December 2015.

Knights Brown was appointed to carry out works at sites that included RNAS Yeoviton, RAF Brize Norton, RMA Sandhurst, Sir John Moore Barracks, RNAS Culdrose, McMullen Barracks, RAF St Athan and CTCRM Lympstone.

Our works were for groundworks, foundations and drainage prior to the installation of prefabricated construction accommodation blocks, and the subsequent landscaping and public realm works. Our involvement with the project took place over six years.

Our ability to self-deliver using our own tradesmen and groundworkers, and our owned and operated substantial plant fleet have been important features of the contract.

During the contract, we received the Supply Chain Partner of the Year Award and were joint winners of the Safety Award of the Year.

Knights Brown performed very well on this project in terms of quality, cost and time. The team worked very well as part of an integrated delivery team with the Employer to the benefit of the project

Sites are always very well presented. First impressions count and if a site looks well organised and clean when you arrive then generally this is applied throughout the management of the projects. Indeed, all five projects I am Cummins PM for, have been managed to a high standard and equally the safety records and standards are very good.
