Pendennis Shipyard (PSY) is one of the most impressive and reputable superyacht build and refit companies in the world.

Knights Brown was contracted to expand their Falmouth facilities to support continued growth. Vital to successful delivery of the works was meeting the immovable deadline when the facility had to be available to ensure PSY could fulfil the orders they had received.

The works comprised the design and construction of a 7,500m² non-tidal wet basin formed from 200m of 7m wide sheet piled fingers, mass filled concrete with pre-cast edge beams and in-situ reinforced concrete topping.

During an ECI phase, we made savings to the original budget of £2.3m from two process innovations that included removing a cofferdam and pre-casting a concrete sill structure on the dock edge before lifting it into the water and floating it into position.

The project was highly commended at the British Construction Industry Awards in the category for civil engineering projects under £10m.

Sites are always very well presented. First impressions count and if a site looks well organised and clean when you arrive then generally this is applied throughout the management of the projects. Indeed, all five projects I am Cummins PM for, have been managed to a high standard and equally the safety records and standards are very good.

Knights Brown performed very well on this project in terms of quality, cost and time. The team worked very well as part of an integrated delivery team with the Employer to the benefit of the project
