Knights Brown was appointed to carry out the design and construction of a lightweight steel frame structure to house garages, training rooms and general facilities including an 8m high climbing wall, earth embankment and a rock revetment for rescue practice.

The main entrance is a controlled glazed section of curtain walling, which gives access directly into the training facility and when required, the coastguard rescue station. There are full height garage doors to the south elevation, which allow both training and rescue vehicles clear access away from the building. The remaining elevations have a mixture of exit doors and windows, the west of the building is provided with a linked area of hard standing, for collecting equipment and washing down vehicles.

A dedicated access route leads from the building to the training wall, where vehicles can drive to the top and unload equipment. The training wall is an open reinforced concrete structure and above ground, acts as a retaining structure. Rock armour has been installed to the west side of the slope, to simulate coastal defences.

    our sectors

The team at Knights Brown has done a fantastic job in creating the largest JLR Aftersales Centre in the UK, working alongside GEMCO Sales & Service who fitted out the facility to the highest standard. With 29 service bays in total, Dorset is now future-proofed for servicing the JLR product.

Malcolm & I would like to thank yourself and Guy for working with us and our design team in delivering a superb finished product for FloPlast that we are very proud of and which has been much admired by our customers on site visits.  So far so good, we are finding our operational feet on the site and it all appears to be working well.

    - Bryan Lynch, Floplast

Knights Brown performed very well on this project in terms of quality, cost and time. The team worked very well as part of an integrated delivery team with the Employer to the benefit of the project

Sites are always very well presented. First impressions count and if a site looks well organised and clean when you arrive then generally this is applied throughout the management of the projects. Indeed, all five projects I am Cummins PM for, have been managed to a high standard and equally the safety records and standards are very good.
