The project involved the widening of the west side of the interchange roundabout at junction 11 of the M23, which connects the main London to Brighton motorway with Crawley and Horsham.

The objective was to significantly improve traffic flow, which had been affected by the construction of a new residential development at Kilnwood Vale.

The works comprised widening of the A264 western approach to the junction from two to three lanes, relocating traffic signal controlled pedestrian crossings, and the installation of signals to the A264 entry onto the roundabout, as well as the creation of new footpaths, drainage, service ducting, anti-skid surfacing and road signage, under a S278 agreement.

Traffic management included phasing the various elements of construction while maintaining heavy traffic flow during peak times and access to local businesses. In addition, we worked alongside ecologists to ensure preservation of hedgerows, trees and wildlife.

    our sectors

Overall a successful project with good management of the work. Site team asked questions rather than made assumptions which was good. Good communication. Would (and have) recommended Knights Brown for other projects.
