Under this contract, Knights Brown was continuously deployed at Bulford over a period of seven years. Our works comprised earth modelling, drainage and reinforced concrete works for foundation slabs and external works to junior ranks single living accommodation (JRSLA) blocks.

During the period, very little material has been taken off site. Demolished materials were generally crushed and re-used as Type 2 for hard landscaping works. Parade ground tarmac planings were re-used as temporary hardstanding and footways, and following large earthworks, remaining material was stockpiled for continuous evaluation and earmarked for re-use in subsequent phases for example, to raise levels.

Drainage solutions on site have included SUDS, SWALES, hydro-brake systems, head-walls, clay linings and rainwater harvesting tanks.

Our excellent safety record has been recognised with a total of thirty awards including Trade Contractor of the Year and Individual of the Year.

    our sectors

This complex and challenging project was a collaborative undertaking from the outset. Combining two projects was inspirational, saving not only money but diverting 22,000m3 from landfill. Some extremely innovative tools and methods were used to demolish the pier, recover material and to achieve the lowest environmental impact on one of the most environmentally designated places in the UK.

Overall a successful project with good management of the work. Site team asked questions rather than made assumptions which was good. Good communication. Would (and have) recommended Knights Brown for other projects.

Site staff were pleased to have had Knights Brown on the team, they were proactive from day one to the end towards potential issues and responsive to a changing site environment for works.
