SUMMARY OF WORKS AND SERVICES UNDERTAKEN

Design and build of a portal frame building to house the generators with custom built acoustic cladding due to the proximity of residential properties. These were just 22m away from the site so it was imperative that noise from the site was effectively managed. The customised acoustic cladding ensured the noise of the generators was minimised to a level that was acceptable to both residents and our customer.

    • Concrete slab designed with service trench due to restricted space on site
    • Bunded slabs for radiator bank and transformers
    • Drainage works, including an attenuation tank and flow control restrictor into United Utilities combined drainage
    • Demolition of an asbestos building in proximity to existing building
    • Provision of a containerised control room and workshop
    • Installation of lift beams inside the portal frame building to enable the lift and slide of components

Japanese Knotweed on site was effectively managed by developing measures to limit its impact. One of these was to form a barrier by siting our compound between the knotweed and construction area enabling us to create a physical barrier prohibiting plant movement and excavation in the vicinity.

Getting the generators in place inside the portal frame proved to be challenging with weather protection in place for the installation. The challenge was overcome by installing lift beams and hoists to lift  components into place.

Design changes led to a delay in the project start date however we were able to effectively accelerate our programme to ensure the project was successfully delivered in budget and to the original programme.

    our sectors

Sites are always very well presented. First impressions count and if a site looks well organised and clean when you arrive then generally this is applied throughout the management of the projects. Indeed, all five projects I am Cummins PM for, have been managed to a high standard and equally the safety records and standards are very good.

Site staff were pleased to have had Knights Brown on the team, they were proactive from day one to the end towards potential issues and responsive to a changing site environment for works.
