Knights Brown has been announced as one of CO2nstructZero’s (CZ) business champions, who will work alongside the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) and other major industry bodies to share innovations and best practice, and act as promotors and role models to support the construction industry’s move to net zero carbon.

As a business champion we have appointed a CZ Young Ambassador who will:

    • Provide a critical voice of challenge on the level of ambition being set
    • Offer advice and encouragement to bring all our employees on the Net Zero journey
    • Work with the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy and the CLC to support media activity

The CLC launched CZ earlier this year as an industry-change programme intended to act as a catalyst to drive the collaboration needed to address construction’s carbon impact and the transition towards a net-zero emissions future. The programme is supported by construction minister Anne Marie Trevelyan and MP Andrew Griffith, the prime minister’s net-zero business champion.

Goal 13, Knights Brown’s first comprehensive strategy to respond to the climate and nature emergency, was published in April 2021. Named in recognition of the United Nation’s thirteenth sustainable development goal, climate action, it defines our leadership team’s ambition and sets a clear objective:

To transition to net zero, accelerating progress to significantly reduce carbon emissions by 2030 in line with a science-based target pathway, compensating for residual emissions through potential high-impact climate and nature actions that deliver long-lasting, quality results alongside environmental and social benefits.

    Managing Director, Kevin Valentine, said:

“Our transition to net zero is the right thing to do for future generations, for nature and biodiversity, and it’s the right thing to do to secure the survival of our business. As a generation, we have a final opportunity to take action to limit global warming to what is considered an “acceptable” level. In moving to net zero, we become part of the solution instead of the problem.”

CZ Young Ambassador, Joseph Tucker said:

“Continued engagement from the leadership team with the younger generation will help shape the future of our business and set us on the right path towards the goal of net zero. Most young individuals in the business are more than happy to put forward ideas and assist in any way possible and encouragement from the leadership team will invoke confidence in the younger generation to continue to encourage more sustainable solutions.”
